Dawn fishing boats at Trou d'Eau Douce, Mauritius
Trou D'Eau Douce Fishermen Cooperative

Marketplace · COS · Mobile

From boat to table in one system: TDDFC marketplace, COS and Mo Poisson.

Intermediaries took the margin. Paper took the memory. The cooperative needed software that still works at dawn on the east coast.

Outcomes

  • Direct sales channel with no intermediary margin
  • Every catch traceable back to the fisherman and the boat
  • Same-day delivery window from Flacq through to Port-Louis
  • Certified weighing and quality control before every listing

Trou D'Eau Douce Fishermen Cooperative is not a brochure website project. It is a live operating ecosystem: fishermen record catch at sea, cooperative staff validate and certify lots, buyers order the day's catch online, and every parcel can be traced back to the boat. GTO designed and shipped the three surfaces on one realtime backend so the cooperative stops leaking margin to middlemen and stops running memory on paper.

Over fifty artisanal fishermen selling straight to the table, with every order traced back to the boat.

The challenge

Artisanal catch on the east coast was sold through intermediaries. Buyers could not verify origin or quality. The cooperative could not coordinate inventory, validations, invoices and same-day logistics for fifty-plus members without losing the morning. UNDP support opened the door for a serious digital build. Fiction would not survive the landing site.

Mo Poisson starts at sea: photo, GPS, grades, offline queue when the signal dies.

Three surfaces. One truth.

Mo Poisson · Mobile

Expo · offline-first · EN / FR / Kreol

Field tool for fishermen. Catch recording with photos, GPS and quality grades. Control Tower for SOS, check-in and trip tracking. Earnings visibility and push alerts when a lot is validated or rejected.

COS · Cooperative Operating System

Next.js · Convex · role-based command centre

Back-office for staff: fishermen and customers, catch monitor, validations, inventory, orders, deliveries, invoices, credits, POS, reports and audit. Catch becomes certified inventory before it ever reaches a buyer.

Marketplace · tddfishermen.com

Catch of the day · pools · QR trace

Public shop for restaurants, hotels and households. Order before the morning cut-off, receive the same afternoon from Flacq to Port-Louis. Trace pages expose fisherman, species, weight and validation status.

COS is where catch becomes inventory, order and delivery. Not a slide deck.

The workflow that replaces intermediaries

  • Catch recorded in Mo Poisson (or manually) with evidence.
  • COS validates or rejects, weighs and certifies the lot.
  • Inventory publishes to the marketplace for the day's window.
  • Buyer orders. Invoice and delivery flow close the loop with signatures where required.
  • QR trace keeps origin honest after the fish leaves the jetty.

Outcomes that matter to operators

The cooperative owns a direct channel. Lots are weighed and certified before sale. Buyers can prove origin. Delivery is designed for the same afternoon. That is the difference between a funded pilot and an operating business. GTO remains the builder behind the stack: product, engineering, and the operating rules that keep the three surfaces honest.

If you run a cooperative, a coastal trade, or any business where field data must become inventory before noon, this is the pattern.
